This study examines the global market for electric lighting
fixtures, also known as luminaires. Products covered include
nonportable fixtures (indoor, outdoor and vehicular-type) that are wired
permanently in place and also sometimes referred to as hardwired
fixtures, portable fixtures (including residential fixtures that are
commonly called lamps -- which are plugged into an ordinary wall socket
and thus can generally be easily moved -- and consumer lighting
products such as flashlights), and parts and accessories (e.g.,
aftermarket ballasts, sockets and reflectors) for lighting fixtures. The
study does not cover lamps (i.e., light bulbs); sealed beam automotive
headlamps; non-electric lighting sources; wiring devices; dimming
controls and related devices; or electric power generating, transmission
and distribution equipment.
Demand for lighting fixtures is also discussed in terms of intended end use, including construction markets (i.e., residential buildings, nonresidential buildings and nonbuilding applications) and manufactured goods markets (e.g., vehicular equipment and other durable goods). In addition to providing a market outlook, the study identifies and profiles the major industry participants and discusses the key strategic competitive variables.
